From GeoffS at 2008-04-10 20:40:35 : I like because it is not a spectacular photo
of a spectacular event but one that captures just an ordinary moment in many many ordinary moments
that make up what were our everyday working
steam railways.
From dajo at 2009-04-04 20:05:20 : I grew up in Tonbridge and have stood more or less on that spot looking at many engines, many times; the un-rebuilt Bulleid pacifics were my favorite. I doubt that this was an express however, moreover, it was a short train. I write these things because a (long) express engine would be right up by the signal gantry, and, quite possibly, taking on water from the water tower. And that spot, up the platform a little, is where I *really* stood. I recall that fast up trains took on water rather less than the down fast trains at platform 3, this one being platform 2. This photograph really stirred me, wow!
